Social

It's not all training! Thames famously has one of the best social scenes on the Tideway (it helps that we have a good balance of men and women!).

The club bar, which offers favourable rates to members, is at the centre of things.  With newly acquired comfy furniture, its a pleasant place to have a drink and a cosy chat by the fire.  Meals are available on most weeknights.  The bar also has a good selection of games (jenga, connect 4, poker chips, chess, backgammon and more) with which to waste an hour or two.  As you might expect, success at regattas is also often followed by an impromptu session in the bar.

Club socials are held every few weeks with recent examples and plans for the future including bar quizzes, poker nights, film nights, curry nights and wine tasting.  An excellent value Sunday lunch is also held once a month in the Hall.

Big parties, open to non-members, are held after the Fours' Head, Women's Eights Head and Men's Eights Head, as well as smaller parties marking the Start and End of the Season.  The Annual Dinner, held in December is a chance for club members old and young to get together, celebrate the past year's successes and look forward to the coming season.

Thames is also one of the seven founding clubs of the Remenham Club, which has its clubhouse at the mid-point of the Henley Royal Regatta course and is the place to socialise and watch the racing.

Thames is the perfect combination of high level rowing and quality socialising.
