 | | Joining Thames HOW TO JOIN
Have a look at the contacts page, get in touch with the appropriate person, and arrange a time to visit.
We generally hold an open day in late August/early September, with a start of season meeting then following in mid/late September. Members are, however, welcome to join throughout the year.
We also recommend you read our Frequently Asked Questions.
WHAT'S ON OFFER
Thames offers competitive rowing for men and women. As a club, we are unashamedly focused on racing but have room for a range of ability and experience.
We take complete beginners and have a proud record of taking novices on to success at the highest levels. We also have a thriving Junior section.
After a long period as the proverbial sleeping giant of British men's rowing, Thames has unmistakeably woken up, reaching five Henley finals since 2001 and winning the Wyfold Challenge Cup in 2003 and 2006.
The Club is justly famous for its place in women's rowing. Since Henley Women's Regatta began in 1987, we have averaged at least 2 wins a year and we regularly help club members make the jump to the national squad. If you are serious about women's rowing in the UK, there is simply no better place to be than Thames.
Veterans and Casuals groups cater for those who still wish to race but may wish to take a slightly more relaxed attitude to training.
FACILITIES
Thames has invested heavily in its fleet in recent years, with the result that we are now well equipped with a large number of high-quality racing boats. WIth the opening of our new building in Spring 2005, we now also have the land-training facilities to match: a heavy weights gym, indoor rowing tank (under construction) and two large gym spaces.
