Mixed fortunes in semi-finals

The two Thames members involved in World Championships semi finals experienced mixed fortunes.

Beth Rodford and Natasha Page went out to an early lead in the coxless pair, but were overhauled and finished in fifth.  They will race in the B final early on Saturday morning.  If they can finish in 1st or 2nd position they will still qualify for the Beijing Olympics.

Elise Laverick and Anna Bebington had a great race in the double, tracking Romania and then easing past them in the closing stages to win their semi-final.  The British double, having been a 'dark horse' crew at the start of this Championship are now likely contenders for a medal.  Their final is mid-morning on Saturday.
