Success at WEHORR 2023

After strong performances in 2022, the Thames women had plenty to aim for at the Women’s Eights Head of the River Race 2023.

The club entered six eights. Five placed in the top 30 - the first time this has been achieved by the club since 2001 - and the fourth eight came away with a pennant in the Challenge category in a new course record time of 20:21.7.

The first eight was chased hard by Leander B down most of the track, and finished fifth overall on time (sixth in the official results after a time penalty). The second, third and fifth eights, all racing in the ‘senior’ category produced strong rows to finish 15th, 17th and 23rd respectively. The sixth eight also put out a good perfomance, coming 64th overall and beating a huge number of first and second eights from other clubs.
