Henley Women's Regatta 2023

Thames went into Henley Women’s Regatta 2023 hoping to build momentum into Henley Royal, and retain the Copas Cup for club eights won in 2022.

A total of 11 crews were entered, and seven reached the quarter-final stage of the weekend, with four of these making it to the semi-finals. The Borne Cup quad and the Lester Trophy coxless four both lost at this point to the eventual winners.

That left two eights racing in the finals: the A crew in the Ron Needs Cup (championship) and the A crew in the Copas Cup. The latter had previously raced against and knocked out their clubmates in the B crew.

In the final, the Copas Cup eight were confident against our neighbours Vesta RC, and made no mistakes as they powered to a 1 3/4-length victory to retain the trophy. Meanwhile the Ron Needs Cup crew raced well against a very good Oxford Brookes combination, losing by two lengths.

Overall it was another excellent weekend from the Thames women, setting the crews up well for the run into Henley Royal Regatta and providing good racing experience for all.
