Outstanding end to winter at the Head of the River

The Head of the River Race (HoRR) and the Vesta International Masters Head of the River Race concluded winter racing towards the end of March, with more success for Thames crews.

At HoRR, Thames had eight crews racing, including seven squad boats and one masters crew. All eight finished inside the top 70.

The 1st 8 rowed a strong race to improve on last year’s finishing position of fourth, taking third overall, the Club pennant and the Vernon Trophy for the fastest Tideway crew. The 2nd 8 also stepped up to come ninth overall.

The 3rd 8 was 14th, the 5th 8 26th and the 4th 8 28th, with the 6th eight coming 34th and the 7th 8 66th. The masters were 56th.

The following day, three Thames crews and a composite mixed 8 took to the Tideway once more for Masters Head, with the men’s masters A boat winning overall. Unfortunately due to a serious incident, the race was abandoned early, and our thoughts go to all those affected.
