Venue hire

Thames Rowing Club is available for hire for weddings, birthday parties, corporate away days and other events

Venue hire and events

Our beautiful clubhouse was first built in 1879 and has been extended and improved over the years. In 2011 we renovated the bar, hall and social areas to create a light, airy modern space which retains all the character of the Victorian building. The walls are decorated with rowing photographs and memorabilia dating from the 1860s to the present day and celebrating our club’s successes both domestically and internationally. On sunny days the balcony is an ideal spot to watch the world pass by.

Thames is the perfect place for a wedding, birthday party, christening or other celebration as well as corporate away days, conferences, and training courses.

Club members have access to the bar in the evenings from Monday to Thursday, but we are happy to discuss exclusivity. Our licence runs until midnight, however we can apply for an extension to 1am if requested at the time of booking.

Getting here and parking

Thames Rowing Club is ideally situated a short distance from a number of transport hubs. Putney Bridge underground station (District Line) or Putney rail station are both less than 15 minutes’ walk away. Several bus routes run close by and on weekday mornings and evenings riverbus RB6 runs to Putney Pier, just 5 minutes from the club. Chartered boat services can also land at the pier if you wish to transport guests to the venue in style.

There is unrestricted on-street parking available after 4.30pm Monday to Saturday, and all day on Sunday, in most of the streets around the club, and at all times except between 9.30am and 10.30am Monday to Saturday in front of the club. Please bear in mind that the Thames is tidal and visitors to the club should check the time of high tide before parking on the Embankment.
